in the Connectors of the thnuclnt.conf file
in the printers list of the thnuclnt.conf file
The ThinPrint Client configuration file thnuclnt.conf is divided into three areas:
- global settings for the ThinPrint Client
- Connectors for the individual print protocols or startup modes
- CUPS printing with associated properties
The first two areas are edited manually. Parameter specifications for this purpose are found in the following two sections.
The third area is delineated automatically by the ThinPrint Client. Therefore, the parameters specified in the third section are usually not changed.
in the file header for thnuclnt.conf
Global settings for the ThinPrint Client are set up in the file header for thnuclnt.conf.
in the Connectors of the thnuclnt.conf file
In the configuration file, Connectors begin with the term connector – e. g. connector tcpip or connector CS. Each Connector must have a unique name.
Parameter | Function |
protocol | listen = thnuclnt receives print jobs passively via TCP/IP or RDP (default port with TCP/IP: 4000) |
interface | print protocol TCP/IP: 0.0.0.0, when protocol = listen (default for TCP port: 4000); examples: |
setdefault | specifies whether AutoConnect should set the default printer in a remote desktop session (default: false) |
bandwidth | • client-side bandwidth setting (bit/s or bps) • has to be lower or equal than the corresponding ThinPrint Port setting (server side) |
in the printers list of the thnuclnt.conf file
After starting, the ThinPrint Client automatically inserts all CUPS printers into the thnuclnt.conf file. It uses the default values of the respective ThinPrint parameters for this (see below).
Note! Manually configuring the entries for the individual printers is usually not required! Only in special cases might it be necessary to change individual parameters – e. g. to not send certain printer information to AutoConnect or Management Services when requesting the list of printers.
Parameter | Funcion |
id | • ID number of the printer (on the ThinPrint Client), see also – Connecting printers to ThinPrint Ports • must be unique • is allocated automatically, depending on autoid (see above) |
enabled | • printer is enabled (default: true) • for ThinPrint Client, disabling has the same effect as deleting the printer |
map | when the printer list is requested, printer information will be sent to AutoConnect or the Management Services (default: true) |
default | • specifies ThinPrint Client's current or default printer • only print jobs with missing printer ID are sent here • only one printer can be the current or default printer (default: false) |
device | device queue name for the CUPS printer |
description | printer description |
tpsfilter | filter is set for the ThinPrint Output Gateway PS, for transferring driver properties to AutoConnect (default: false) |
driver | printer driver |
colordevice | indicates whether the printer supports color (= true) |
defaultcolorspace | colorspace (cmyk, cmy, gray, rgb, rgbk or n) |
defaultsize | default paper size (e. g. A4, Letter, 11×17 or Legal) |
